Oil Filter Replacement:

1. Prepare Your Vehicle:

Safety First: Park your RAM on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
Lift the Vehicle: Use a jack to lift the front end and secure it with jack stands if necessary.

2. Drain the Old Oil:

Locate the Oil Drain Plug: Find the drain plug on the oil pan underneath the vehicle.
Position the Oil Drain Pan: Place it under the drain plug.
Remove the Drain Plug: Use the socket set to carefully remove the drain plug and let the oil drain completely.

3. Remove the Old Oil Filter:

Locate the Oil Filter: Typically found on the side of the engine block.
Use an Oil Filter Wrench: Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove it. Expect some residual oil to spill out.

4. Install the New Oil Filter:

Prepare the New Filter: Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new filter.
Install the Filter: Screw the new filter into place by hand. Tighten it until snug, but avoid over-tightening.

5. Replace the Oil Drain Plug:

Clean and Reinstall: Clean the drain plug and reinstall it into the oil pan. Tighten it securely.

6. Add New Oil:

Locate the Oil Filler Cap: Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.
Use a Funnel: Pour the new oil into the engine. Refer to your owner’s manual for the correct oil type and quantity.
Replace the Oil Filler Cap: Once done, replace and tighten the oil filler cap.

7. Check the Oil Level:

Use the Dipstick: After adding oil, wait a few minutes, then check the oil level with the dipstick. Add more oil if necessary.

8. Lower the Vehicle and Check for Leaks:

Remove the Jack Stands: Carefully lower the vehicle.
Check for Leaks: Start the engine and let it run for a minute. Inspect underneath for any leaks.

Fuel Filter Replacement:

1. Prepare Your Vehicle:

Safety First: Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Lift the truck if the filter is located underneath, securing it with jack stands.

2. Relieve Fuel System Pressure:

Locate the Fuel Pump Fuse/Relay: Refer to your owner’s manual for its location.
Start the Engine and Run Until It Stalls: This relieves pressure in the fuel system. Turn off the ignition.

3. Remove the Old Fuel Filters:

Locate the Fuel Filters: The primary filter is often found along the fuel line near the engine, and the secondary filter may be positioned elsewhere in the system.
Disconnect the Fuel Lines: Use rags to catch any spilling fuel. A special tool might be needed to disconnect the lines.
Remove the Filters: Use a fuel filter wrench or appropriate tool to remove both filters.

4. Install the New Fuel Filters:

Position the Filters: Install the new filters in their respective locations. Ensure the flow direction is correct (usually indicated by an arrow).
Reconnect the Fuel Lines: Attach the lines to the new filters and ensure they are securely fastened.

5. Reinstall the Fuel Pump Fuse/Relay:

Replace the Fuse/Relay: Reinstall the fuse or relay that was removed.

6. Check for Leaks:

Turn the Ignition On: Without starting the engine, turn the key to the “On” position to pressurize the fuel system.
Inspect for Leaks: Check around the new filters for any signs of leakage.

7. Lower the Vehicle (if lifted):

Remove the Jack Stands: Carefully lower the vehicle.

Final Steps:

Dispose of Old Oil and Filters:
Take the used oil and filters to a recycling center or an auto parts store that accepts used motor oil and filters.

Record the Maintenance:
Keep a record of the filter and oil changes for future reference and maintenance tracking.

Note: Always consult your RAM’s service manual for model-specific instructions and part numbers. If you’re unsure or uncomfortable performing these tasks, consider seeking help from a professional mechanic.
